HOW TO FIND OUT THE VALUE OF A RESISTANCE

HOW TO FIND OUT THE VALUE OF A RESISTANCE BY ANALYZING THE COLOR CODES

Since it is not practical to print values of small electronic components on them, coloured rings are marked on the surface of the resistor. Each color represents a numeric value from 0 to 9, usually three rings are closely marked at the left end of the resistor to indicate the value of the resistor and another ring at the opposite end to indicate the tolerance value.

COLORS AND  VALUES

COLOURVALUE
Black0
Brown1
Red2
Orange3
Yellow4
Green5
Blue6
Violet7
Gray8
White9

TOLERANCE VALUES

Gold - 5%
Silver - 10%
No colour - 20%

HOW TO FIND OUT THE VALUES

1st RING is 1st digit
2nd RING  is 2nd digit
3rd RING is no of zeros
4th RING (last ring at the opposite side) is the Tolerance
